Khao Manee: A rare odd-eyed Feline
As the name might suggest, the Khao Manee’s pure white coat holds little surprise; it was named after the translation “white gem.” It has sturdy and athletic body, with a short, silky and close-fitting coat. It’s a kind of “oriental” body-a supple, longish sort, though not taken as extreme as some others in that category-not unlike that of a Siamese cat. One of each color; odd-eyed-blue, gold, or the rarest of the three types of color possible for this breed, with one eye being blue, one being gold.

In their own little realm, the Khao Manee is often nicknamed the “Cow Man-ee,” a name given to it because it is so friendly and affectionate in nature that they are curious, intelligent, and people-loving. A bit chatty, the lovely voice they just love to employ when purring or chirping for attention if you are getting on their case – do not leave a Khao alone or bored; they play a great deal and adore the company of their people but can also be very independent and sharp thinkers when needed!

The Tamra Maew is a work of feline poetry dating from the fourteenth century and here lists one breed, the Khao Manee of Thailand. It was used only for royalty in Siam and although still relatively scarce in the West it has only recently been imported to the US and awaits recognition in the UK. It is thus the rarest pure breed in the world.

Dietary and Feeding
Since every cat is different, then each has likes, dislikes, wants, and dislikes in food. However, since they are obligate carnivores, 41 different and distinct nutrients will need to be consumed through their diet. Thus a lively, playful kitten will require a nutritionally different diet than a relatively sedentary older cat, because the levels of those nutrients change with age, lifestyle, and condition.

Care and Grooming a Khao Manee
It has a short-haired coat that literally needs no maintenance, it only needs to be brushed once a week. In general, a Khao Manee cat is clean easy and does not require often bathing.
If you have to bathe your Khao Manee do so for a while before letting them rest once more and cutting their claws to avoid being scratched over. Comb and brush them of any loose hair from their coat, then fill sink or bathtub with three to four inches of warm water, then use only shampoo specifically designed for cats, only, and do not try to bathe these areas on their face, ears, or eyes; usually a gentle cleaning with a wet washcloth is all that is needed.

They have oval-tipped ears, relatively big eyes, and a wedge-shaped head. These are short-haired cats with sleek, muscular bodies-they are bred to flourish in the torrid, tropical climates.

The Khao Manee is very striking with jewel-like eyes and an all-white coat. They can be color, in which both eyes come out appearing the same color, or each eye differs in their color. To this date, they sport eyes that range from blue, green, or yellow, although their original hue must have been blue.

The bones are of average size. On average, females typically range from 6 to 8 pounds and males go up to 8 to 11 pounds. Conversely, the skeleton of a male is pretty heavier compared to females.

It can be relatively challenging to find a Khao Manee breeder in the US considering the fact such cats are really and exceptionally rare. The best option for you would be to visit a local cat show where you can get in contact with different responsible breeders. The price tag for this breed is over $11,000 on average, making it one of the costliest breeds worldwide due to exceptional rarity and beauty.
Such cats are so rare that only a few find their way into shelters. Ideally, however, it is best for a circle of breeders to rescue homeless Khao Manee cats. Of course, the adoption fee may go as high as $2,500 for such animals. You might get lucky someday and encounter a white cat with your jewel-eyed eyes in a shelter.

This inquisitive friendly breed gets on very well with families who have little children and many other pets. The cats are small and daintily formed yet absolutely love a lively home full of playthings and owners-expecially children-that like to spend time playing with them. They love to frolic and play with people. This cat is a napper, once’s he takes serenely on laps between playing periods.
This is not for you if you happen to be one that needs a pet to leave alone for extended periods. Khao Manee is an extroverted pet that needs to be constantly interacted with.
