Often just called a “Lynx,” the term “Lynx cat” refers to a number of wild cat species distinguished by their thick hair, short tails, and characteristic tufted ears. The Eurasian Lynx, Canadian Lynx, Iberian Lynx, and Bobcat (sometimes a kind of Lynx) are the most well-known varieties. These medium-sized wild cats have big, padded feet that function as snowshoes, making them well-suited to cold climates. As lone hunters, lynxes use their acute vision and hearing to capture prey such as tiny deer and rabbits. Some domestic cats, such as the Pixie-Bob and Highland Lynx, are specifically bred to resemble them in appearance, with tufted ears and a sturdy physique, despite their wild and elusive character.
