History
The Burmilla was developed by accident. In 1981, British citizen Miranda Von Kirchberg purchased a male Chinchilla Persian kitten named Jamari Sanquist. Before he could be neutered he was bred by the lilac Burmese female Bambino Lilac Fabergé.
There were four female kittens, and names for them were given as Galatea, Gemma, Gisella, and Gabriella. The kittens have short hair, and all of them look pretty in their silvery tints. This is the reason why further breedings went ahead and a new breed of cat was born.
This Burmilla breed originated in the United Kingdom. Like other breeds over time and with growing demand, the breed is still relatively rare, particularly in the United States.
